Manchester City looks set to drop the transfer of Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
English media have reported that City has reached a personal agreement with the player, but has not done so with Napoli.
The Italian club is asking for 80 million euros to release him, while City is not ready to offer more than 65 million euros for him.
Thus City are considering the transfer of another defender if the Koulibaly track fails.
The leaders of the English giant have turned their heads to La Liga, where Pep Guardiola likes two very good defenders.
It is about the Brazilian Diego Carlos of Sevilla and the Uruguayan Jose Gimenez of Atletico Madrid.
Both players are younger than Koulibaly and less valued by their teams.
The Guardian has reported that the English giant’s executives will also have a meeting with the Neapolitans for Koulibaly, and if Napoli do not give up their demands, then City will look at another option.
27-year-old Diego Carlos has a departure clause from Sevilla of 70 million euros, while Gimenez has a clause of 110 million.
Anyway at City they hope to transfer one of them for a much lower amount than their clause.
It is worth noting that during this transfer window, City has been reinforced with Dutch center-back Nathan Ake and Spanish winger Ferran Torres.
