Kai Havertz admits the Premier League is a much harder league to play than the Bundesliga, after making his test debut for Chelsea against Brighton on Monday night.
Big and beautiful things are expected in English football from the German representative, as Frank Lampard poured just under 76 million euros to buy him from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Adapting to new circumstances is not easy, however, especially for a 21-year-old.
Havertz will need time to do this.
This became clear in his debut against Brighton, as he lacked creativity on the field.
Havertz is expected to explode sometime, but at the moment he admits that the demands in the English elite league are high, especially compared to those in the Bundesliga.
“It was a very difficult match, difficult because I was on a long break and I went back to training with the team for only six days,” Havertz said after Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Brighton.
“The most important thing is that we won and I am happy that I made my debut,” he added.
“The Premier League is much harder than the Bundesliga. I realized this in training and I realized it in matches as well. “But I am happy that I played 80 minutes,” he underlined.
