Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has said that former Chelsea star Eden Hazard was the best player in the Premier League and has backed him to prove his talent at his new club, Real Madrid.
The Belgian enjoyed seven successful seasons at Stamford Bridge, where he won the Premier League and Europa League trophies and played alongside Juan Mata for two years before the Spaniard transferred to Old Trafford.
Hazard was transferred to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window last year, but injuries have hampered his debut season, limiting him to just one goal and 15 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League.
Mata says he really enjoyed playing against the 29-year-old and sees him as one of the best footballers he has ever played in the elite football league in England.
“The best player in the Premier League, I want to say that the player I really liked to play with and against is Eden Hazard,” said Mata, in an interview given to the official website of Manchester United.
“For me, for many years, he is the best in the league. He could win the games himself. “I trained with him and I knew how good he could be.”
“He has been very unlucky during this period with Real Madrid with some injuries, but I’m sure he will show his true level when he is in good physical condition and no longer injured.”
