“Golden Boy 2020”, the list of 20 candidates, the winner on December 14

The Golden Boy 2020 award process is in the final stages.

On December 14 it will be revealed who will succeed the Portuguese Joao Felix as the winner of this award given by “Tuttosport” for the best young player who plays in an elite European championship.

There are four top candidates with significant advantages over other rivals: Ansu Fati, already September La Liga player, Alphonso Davies, European champions and everything else with Bayern, plus Borussia Dortmund duo Jadon Sancho-Erling Haaland.

There are six Premier League players (the most represented league) from five different teams: Arsenal’s Saka, Citizens’ Foden and Torres, Wolverhampton’s Fabio Silva, Manchester United’s Greenwood and Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi. Barcelona, ??Real Madrid, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are the only clubs that boast two of the candidates.

Only one Italian player remains on the list: it is Sandro Tonali, a midfielder who has just been transferred from Brescia to Milan. There is another Serie A player, Juventus footballer Dejan Kulusevski, who last year stood out with the Parma shirt, in his first season as a professional.

Out of 100 initial candidates, the list has been narrowed to 20. The winner will be selected by a jury of 40 qualified journalists from across Europe. The award will be given on December 14th. The most clicked candidate on the internet will also receive an award.

The regulation stipulates that only players born from 2000 onwards and playing in the best European leagues can compete for this award.
