Jose Mourinho has said that Frank Lampard looked sad and calm in his chair when Chelsea were losing 3-0 to West Brom on Sunday, so he offered advice to his former player on how to behave on the sideline, after his Tottenham reached the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup beating their London rivals on penalties.
Chelsea, who were eliminated after Mason Mount missed the crucial penalty, were winning the game after Timo Werner’s early goal when Mourinho and Lampard clashed on the sidelines at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Tottenham manager provoked his rival, saying he had not defended his players when Chelsea were at a disadvantage in the 3: 3 draw with West Brom.
Mourinho said he regrets seeing Lampard sad and added that he should be calmer when his team is winning.
“As for Frank, good feelings for him are more important than the words I exchanged with him. The only thing I said to him is the opinion of an old coach about a new and talented coach, that players need us when they are losing. When they are winning, we do not need to be protagonists on the sidelines.” said Mourinho.
“The last time (Chelsea) was losing 3-0, I felt sorry for him because he was very sad and calm in his chair.” he added.
