Lionel Messi is convinced that Argentina will finally end the long-awaited big trophy in 2021 by winning the America’s Cup.
The Barcelona superstar is excited to have another chance to achieve international fame with the national team, according to Goal.
Although he holds the most outstanding CV at club level – which includes 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies – the six-time Ballon d’Or winner misses a major trophy with the national team.
Messi has been on the verge of winning every major trophy with Argentina, but has failed in the last hurdle every time.
He suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the 2014 World Cup final, and was twice defeated by Chile in the 2014 and 2016 America’s Cup finals.
But Messi is optimistic again and believes he will be able to lead his national team to glory in the 2021 America’s Cup.
Argentina and Colombia will host the America’s Cup next year, which starts on June 11 and ends on July 12.
Goal says Messi trusts the work of coach Lionel Scaloni who has built a new team since being named coach in 2018.
