Gonzalo Higuain has made a debut to be forgotten with Inter Miami in the MLS, losing the penalty in the deep 3-0 defeat of David Beckham’s team against Philadelphia Union.
The 32-year-old striker, who joined Miami earlier this month after severing his contract with Juventus, had the opportunity to bring his new team back into the game, but failed completely from the penalty spot.
His shot in the 77th minute went high over the gate and ended up in the stands.
The Argentine striker reacted angrily after Philadelphia defender Jakob Glesnes celebrated in front of him, sparking a scuffle.
Inter Miami ranks 13th in the Eastern Conference in the MLS, equal in points to last place, DC United.
The Philadelphia Union is in second place, just two points behind leader Columbus Crew.
