Martinez returns to La Liga after 9 years at Bayern Munich

Javi Martinez is one of the players leaving the Bundesliga champions like Ivan Perisic, Thiago Alcantara and Philippe Coutinho.

The Spanish midfielder, who has mostly been a defender with the Bavarians, is not in the plans of coach Hansi Flick.

The next destination will be his heart team, Athletic Bilbao, who agreed to pay 10 million euros for the 32-year-old’s card.

Martinez thus leaves Bayern after 9 seasons, where he played 238 matches, scored 13 times and reached the personal record with 18 assists.
