Luis Suarez is finally free to join Atletico Madrid

Barcelona have agreed to allow Luis Suarez to join their La Liga rival Atletico Madrid.

Suarez is not wanted in Barca and the Catalan club would gladly release him from the deal without a penny, if he did not join certain clubs.

The Uruguayan striker agreed to reduce his salary to join Atletico, as his transfer to Juventus failed due to passport problems.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu then blocked the deal because he did not want him to join the rival club.

But after a meeting with Suarez representatives, the Catalan club backed down, because Suarez threatened to protest in the media.

Atletico has to pay a sum of 4 million euros for the 33-year-old, which will be done only on the basis of various bonuses.

At Atletico, Suarez will earn half of the 30 million euros he earned in Barcelona a year.
