The agent reveals that Van de Beek had a deal with Real Madrid before the pandemic

Donny van de Beek midfielder Sjaak Swart’s agent claims the new Manchester United player had a deal to join Real Madrid.

There have been widespread reports in Real Madrid transfer news this year that the Dutchman had a deal to join Los Blancos and would conclude a deal this summer.

However, the explosion of the pandemic changed the face of the transfer market with the financial consequences that hit Real Madrid, as the club is unlikely to make major investments this summer.

Van de Beek has since joined Manchester United, but his agent Sjaak Swart has spoken of the deal with Real Madrid.

“There were many clubs interested in Van de Beek. It was Real Madrid, Barca, Juve, Arsenal… “.

“In March everything was ready for him to go to Real Madrid, but with the pandemic everything was postponed. Clubs have no income. “The whole scene changed,” Swart told Marca.

The 23-year-old midfielder was one of the stars in the 2018/19 season after Ajax shocked Europe by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, unlike teammates and his teammates Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, he ultimately stayed with Ajax for the 2019/20 season and remained an integral part of their squad before his move to United.
