Bayern Munich does not need Cristiano Ronaldo because he is pleased and happy with their Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, says the head of the German and European champions, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Bayern did not want to transfer Ronaldo in 2018 because they did not feel the need to have the Portuguese in the team when they already had Lewandowski, according to Rummenigge.
The five-time Golden Ball winner left Real Madrid that summer in search of a new challenge.
After nine years in Spain, Ronaldo decided to go somewhere else.
Juventus won the race for him, securing the services of the 35-year-old who won two Serie A titles with the Whites.
Very few clubs have been able to afford the financial cost of approaching Ronaldo, and the Bundesliga giant was among them.
But Rummenigge says Bayern have never even considered transferring Ronaldo.
“We had and still have Lewandowski. We did not need a striker like Ronaldo,” Rummenigge told Tuttosport.
