Joaquin: I would not recommend Koeman even as a ball collector, let alone as a coach

Joaquin Sanchez did not restrain himself at all when he spoke about the experience he had experienced under the leadership of coach Ronald Koeman, whom he does not consider worthy even as a ball collector in the stadium.

Joachim’s harsh comments come on the eve of his visit with Real Betis at the Camp Nou for Saturday’s La Liga match against Barcelona.

Joaquin and Koeman worked together briefly in Valencia in the 2007/08 season, when they won the Copa del Rey, before the Dutch coach was fired.

Koeman is back as coach in Spanish football this season, taking over at Barcelona.

The 39-year-old Betis star said that he would not recommend Koeman even as a ball collector, let alone as a coach, when asked if he would appoint him as Betis coach if he were president.

“Not even as a ball collector.” Joaquin said briefly.

“Fortunately, my time in Valencia with him did not last long and we were able to save the season with as much dignity as possible, because it was a difficult year. It was not my best experience. It was not a pleasant experience.” Joaquin said of his time under Koeman.

Asked about meeting Koeman this Saturday at Camp Nou, Joaquin said: “He will not greet me nor will I greet him.”
