Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has promised to make it possible for Lionel Messi to reunite with Pep Guardiola at the Camp Nou if elected.
A new era will begin at the Camp Nou soon, nor the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu from the post of president. The 57-year-old resigned along with the entire board of directors after being warned of the no-confidence motion against them.
Bartomeu left the position of club boss due to numerous failures on and off the field in recent years.
Font, who is seen as the favorite to replace Bartomeu as president, plans to bring back former coach Pep Guardiola, with the aim of convincing Messi to stay at the club.
The Spanish businessman wants to bring back to the club the legends of Barca, Xavi, Andreas Iniesta and Carlos Puyol.
“It is a great challenge to replace the best generation that the world of football has seen, which I believe we have had in the last decade. “Barcelona must also rebuild the stadium in a world that has been hit by the worst crisis ever.” said Font.
He added: “Our goal is to build a very strong and competitive project and we are fortunate in Barca to have inherited the style of play of Johan Cruyff and most of the best professionals who know this style are both fans and they love this club, like Pep Guardiola, Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol.”
“All these are legends who love Barcelona but do not work for Barca today. We have to bring them back to make sure we have a competitive project.”
