Lionel Messi is the first player to score in 16 consecutive games in the Champions League.
Messi scored the first goal of the meeting through a penalty in the first half, against the Hungarian team Ferencvaros on Tuesday night.
The Argentine is the second player to score in 16 Champions League seasons, joining Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, but the first to do so in a row.
Barcelona won 5: 1, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele also on the list of scorers in this meeting.
The 33-year-old’s goal was the second this season for the Barcelona team, since the first match against Villareal in La Liga.
“Maybe Messi’s form could be better at the moment, but he is happy, he is training well, he is focused, he wants to play and be the captain of the team, which he is proving it. I have no complaints,” said Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman after the match.
The Argentine striker is still looking for the first goal from the open game this season, since even in the match against Villareal, the goal he scored was from the white spot.
The next match for Messi and the Barca will be against Real Madrid on Saturday at the Camp Nou starting at 16:00.
