Lyon star Memphis Depay admits he hoped to join Barcelona this summer and was close to the transfer.
Depay tied the last few days of the transfer window to a transfer to Camp Nou, but failed due to several factors.
However, the transfer was close and this has been shown by the Dutch striker, who still holds out hope that the move will eventually be revived.
“I was quite close.” Depay initially told French media.
“We do not need to go into all the details, but there were some rules that unfortunately prevented it.”
“Now I focus on Lyon and I want to be important there again. We will see how things go next.”
“If I do my thing, the interest may still be there. I just have to throw the switch now,” concluded the Dutchman.
