Sergino Dest has described as special the feeling of the first meeting with Lionel Messi, although he says that he did not understand at all what his new teammate in Barcelona had said during the conversation at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona bought Dest from Ajax for 25 million euros last week. The 19-year-old defender also had a tempting offer from Bayern Munich, but chose Barca out of a desire to play alongside Messi.
He was introduced as the new player on Friday at the Camp Nou and made his official debut on Sunday against Sevilla, when he replaced Jordi Alba in the 75th minute in the 1-1 draw.
“I saw everyone today, including Messi. The Argentine does not speak English, but meeting him was special. “To be honest, I have no idea what he told me, but as long as we both smile at each other, everything will be fine,” Dest said after the match against Sevilla.
“I chose Barcelona before any other team because I have always dreamed of playing here. My favorite player, childhood idol was Ronaldinho. “When I realized that Barca was interested in me, I found it easy to decide.” he added.
