Official: Rakitic withdraws from Croatian national team

Ivan Rakitic has left Barcelona after six years at the Camp Nou, to return to Sevilla.

But now, the famous Croatian midfielder has announced that he has retired from the Croatian National Team.

The news was initially made public by the player himself, and later it was confirmed by the Croatian Football Federation.

“Farewell to the Croatian national team was one of the most difficult decisions of my career, but I felt the time had come to do so.”

“I have enjoyed every game played for my country and the memories of the World Cup will long remain in my memory. I am convinced that we still have a great team and a bright future ahead.”

“I wish all my friends and teammates, all the luck of the world for the new challenges that await us and I confirm that I will be their biggest fan.” said Rakitic.

The midfielder made his debut for the Croatian national team on September 8, 2007 in a European qualifier against Estonia in Zagreb, and during his career he wore the Croatian jersey for a total of 106 matches, scoring another 15 goals.
