Pjanic: I rejected France for Bosnia

Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic has indicated that he has refused the French national team in order to represent his homeland, Bosnia.

The Bosnian midfielder, who was transferred to the Camp Nou from Juventus in the summer transfer window, was born in Tuzla, before his family moved to Luxembourg after the Bosnian war.

Pjanic had played for the young age group in the Luxembourg national team and signed for Metz at the age of 14.

“Yes, I could have played for France when I came to Lyon, but I said days ago that my dream was to play for Bosnia,” Pjanic said.

“Domenech called me, but I had it in my mind. I thanked him too, but I want to be honest.”

Pjanic is now preparing for the matches with the Bosnian national team against Iran before the matches in the League of Nations against the Netherlands and Italy.

While the next match with the Barcelona team, will be after the matches with the national team where Juve will travel for the match against Atletico Madrid on November 21.
