Real Madrid’s Brazilian talent, Rodrygo, does not want to become the “new Neymar”, because he says that his goal is to write his own story as Rodrygo.
Rodrygo is one of the most promising young players and part of La Liga champions Real Madrid.
After joining Madrid from Santos for 45 million euros in 2019, Rodrygo has been compared to Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, and Robinho, who just like him left the Brazilian club.
He has been compared to Neymar since the age of 12, in fact, when he signed with Nike to become the youngest athlete sponsored by this company.
But Rodrygo does not feel comfortable with comparisons and hopes to create his own story, like his compatriots.
“From the beginning of my career, when I started in Santos, people started comparing me to Neymar and Robinho. I have always had this weight on my shoulders.” said Rodrygo.
“I have always said that I want to be Rodrygo and write my story, while Robinho and Neymar are big idols of Santos and the teams where they played. I just started it and I think there is only one Neymar.” he added.
“I just want to be Rodrygo.” he insisted.
