Gini Wijnaldum has shown that he has not been close to transferring to La Liga giants Barcelona.
The 29-year-old’s future is still unconfirmed, but this season he will stay with the English team Liverpool.
Liverpool midfielder Wijnaldum has indicated that Barcelona had shown no concrete interest in him this summer, following numerous rumors about a possible departure from Liverpool.
The Dutch star has been rumored to be moving to the Camp Nou, following the appointment of Ronald Koeman as Barcelona coach.
Wijnaldum is developing the final season of his contract at Anfield, but there are no signs that he will renew his contract with the Reds.
However, the transfer window has already expired and Wijnaldum will be part of Liverpool.
“I think [Barca’s interest] was not serious, otherwise you would have read more about this issue, or more things would have happened.” Wijnaldum told a news conference.
