Willian decided to leave Chelsea for London rivals Arsenal after being \u2018wooed\u2019 by manager Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s according to super agent Kia Joorabchian, who discussed his clients\u2019 switch across the capital with talkSPORT on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willian\u2019s free transfer to the Emirates Stadium\u00a0was confirmed last month, ending months of speculation over the Brazilian winger\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arsenal were praised for completing a free transfer for Willian, who was one of the Premier League\u2019s best attacking players during his seven years at Chelsea<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The 32-year-old was one of the Blues\u2019 top-performing stars across seven years at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Europa League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was offered an extension to remain at the west London club, but instead Willian chose to end his Chelsea career and move to north London to become an\u00a0Arsenal<\/a>\u00a0player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Joorabchian has revealed it wasn\u2019t just the three-year \u00a3220,000-a-week contract on offer that convinced him to join to Arsenal, it was also the pull of new manager Arteta and his plans for future success with the Gunners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith Willian, there\u2019s no secret he wanted a three-year contract, but the Mikel Arteta project was just incredible,\u201d the agent told\u00a0talkSPORT host Jim White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was very much wooed by Mikel and [technical director] Edu, and what Mikel presented to him and the way he wants to play football and the way he wants to continue and the success he wants to bring to Arsenal, made the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what he said and that\u2019s exactly what it was.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Willian will have made a move between clubs in the capital\u2026 sort of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in 2013, the Brazilian was famously on the verge of joining Tottenham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A deal was agreed, his medical was done and he was about to sign\u2026 when Chelsea swooped in and signed him from under their neighbours\u2019 noses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was many years ago,\u201d Joorabchian explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was true, wasn\u2019t it,\u201d asked talkSPORT host White. \u201cWillian and you were sitting at Tottenham and he was about to sign\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd then Jose called,\u201d replied the agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, but that was a bit of a different story, because the clubs \u2013 Spurs and Anzhi [Makhachkala, Willian\u2019s old club in Russia] were in a conflict over a solidarity payment, and then Anzhi pulled the plug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo it was a different story [to what was reported].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cObviously Jose was at Chelsea at that time and Willi did very well there, he won several trophies and succeeded very well, so I hope he does the same thing at Arsenal.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
