Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho has said that the elimination against Bayern Munich with a penalty is the lowest point in his career at Real Madrid.
The penalty defeat at the “Santiago Bernabeu” sent his team out of the Champions League at the semifinals.
“If I have to choose the worst moment, it is the elimination with Real Madrid.”
“We were the best team in Europe, without a doubt, we won La Liga by breaking all records for points and goals and we would have won that final, I have no doubt.”
“What was most cruel for me was that in the penalty we chose Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Sergio Ramos, they were safe from the penalty spot and it turned out that the boys who lost the penalties were the ones who never lose, it sank me,” he said. Mourinho in an interview with Mercado Aberto for the Portuguese television channel Sic.
Mourinho would only stay another 12 months at the Santiago Bernabeu before returning to his former club Chelsea.
