Roberto Martinez was ‘proud’ of captain Romelu Lukaku after the Inter striker scored the two goals in the Belgian national team’s 2-1 win over Iceland in Reykjavik.
The Nerazzurri striker scored Belgium’s only goal against England last weekend, while last night he scored two goals and Martinez could not help but praise his star.
“It was not easy to come and play here. The field was not good, but I am not looking for excuses and it is true that our performance was not perfect.” Martinez told RTBF initially.
“I am very proud of Romelu Lukaku and everyone can be.”
“He had an extraordinary match and was impressive in some respects. The captain’s armband probably gave him another dimension.” concluded the Belgian coach.
The 27-year-old has scored three times in three Serie A games so far this season as he prepares for the weekend derby against Milan.
